Excuses

Hey everyone! I have three excuses for not writing a "good" entry in a while.

1. I've been busy.
2. Writing a "good" entry takes a long time.
3. I haven't wanted to.

So there you go! In case you are wondering, here are two snapshots of what I have been doing lately.

First Snapshot
For my nephew's 2-year birthday, my family celebrated at McDonald's. He had fun in the play area but it became obvious that he was either too young or too scared to climb up to the top of the twisted plastic tubes and colorful slides. I, being the good aunt that I am, decided to break the McDonald's 12-and-younger-only rule and help him climb to the upper layers of the play area. I took off my shoes (but left on my socks - I didn't want to break too many of the rules) and began pushing my nephew up the slippery pipes. We were having fun but once the other children started gawking at me, a strange adult in their play area, I grabbed my nephew and hustled down a slide. I have since decided the 12-and-younger-only rule is for my benefit, not for the children's.

Second Snapshot
During Spring Break, Josh and I took a small road trip to Oklahoma. We wanted to try our luck gambling at one of the casinos along the Texas-Oklahoma border. With $50 cash in hand, we entered the casino. I'm usually a pretty lucky person. In elementary school, I won a cake every time on the cake-walk at the fall carnival. I won a computer my senior year of high school. But at the casino, I lost my $20 in about an hour, playing only the nickel slots. Josh had won about $10 but lost that and all the rest of his portion too.

We had $10 left out of our $50 spending money and decided to blow it all on the $1.00 machines. We spend $5 of it and faced our last decision: keep going or stop with $5 left. Well, we kept going. $5-4-3-2. We had won nothing. It was our last dollar, we placed our bet, and the credits started rolling. $20-50-100-150-300-600-750-800!! We won $800! On our last dollar! This is something that bloggers would usually exaggerate about so that the story is exciting but it really happened to us! Winning $800 was great but winning it on our last dollar was the best part.

Here's a teaser for my next entry: Suzie stresses out over a big decision! Coming soon to a blahg near you.

That was definitely an exciting trip we had to OK! The lights going nuts on the slot machine is what got me going crazy! :) We need to go back or just get addicted to online gambling or we could even buy a slot machine for at home play...LOL!

You didn't tell about your nephew and his attempt at playing some DDR! It was really cute and worth a mention in a blahg!

Can't wait to read, or rather hear about what's going on in Ft. Worth and your stress. There isn't much reason to stress though, because no matter what we have each other! Talk to you in the morning :)

Suzie: HA! That's funny about the McDonalds playland thingy. It's even funnier because just last night myself and four other friends from ACU were eating at a McDonalds in Abilene and talking about the playland place and about whether there is an age limit or not...HA!

As for the casino deal...TOTALLY awesome. You'll have to let me know where this casino is...i would love to go and try it...HA!

Holly and I actually ran into Josh today when we were getting lunch at Little Panda in Abilene!

Finally....as for excuses for not writing a "good" entry....i TOTALLY agree that a "good" entry takes a long time. So often I have these topics in my head that I would love to just blog about...things that are big issues in the world today or that are just good and fun to think about, but it is those blogs that take so much time, and unfortunately, I just haven't had that kind of time lately. HA! Oh well...hopefully I will sometime here at the end of our spring break!

Take care!

That casino story is priceless. I love the fact that people in Abiline think to themselves, "Hmm, I'm bored. Let's go gamble. Where could we go gamble? OKLAHOMA!" Priceless, Ryan
