Three Years Ago Today

I'm starting a new bit today, titled "What I Did Three Years Ago Today." Every so often (when I am completely desperate for something to write) I'm going to pull out my diary from 2002. Well, it's not so much of a diary as a log of the things I did during the day. But don't worry! It's interesting because I was studying abroad in Oxford, England during this time. Let's begin.

Date: Friday, February 1, 2002
- Woke up late (missed the train to London with some friends)
- Read
- Ate oatmeal
- Talked to Mom on the Internet
- Went to London at 5 o'clock with other friends
- Bus a lot cheaper than train
- Walked without a map
- Went and saw Chicago (great, lots of dancing, fake American accents)
- Went to Texas embassy (saw ACU flag, ate at the Tex-Mex restaurant, yum)
- Got on bus at Trafalgar Square
- John Terrace!

My comments:
I remember this day! This was my second trip to London, and we were so proud of ourselves for being about to walk around (the tourist areas at least) without a map. Looking back, I don't think that Chicago was great. All I remember about it is the fake American accents. I had never heard a bad, fake American accent before.

I also remember eating at the Texas Embassy. We sat in a corner booth with cowboy hats and lassos fastened to the walls around us. The food itself wasn't very good: bland, stale, dry. But the food was familiar, and we were in a country that after two weeks was still entirely unfamiliar. I think that's why I wrote "yum." John Terrace? That was something...mispronounced? misinterpreted? I remember laughing about it then but I don't know why now.

In five years from now, when I ask myself, "What did I eat on February 1, 2002?" I'll know the answer. Oatmeal and Tex-Mex.

Edit: I take back what I said. Just because I was in Oxford does not make this post interesting!

It's kinda weird to think about it, because what did I really do in Abilene without you around? I guess I hung out with Alton and Tay a lot, but other than that I don't remember a single thing I would do over the weekends. Maybe I went home...Who knows. Anyways, hope you enjoyed my guest blahg entry cause it's the closest I will ever come to making my own site. Goodnight and keep the blahgs comin!
